RLS 03:34
whistlin’ on my way to work with my headphones in cause my stereo broke 48 minutes each way to a job I don’t love in a town I don’t know very well but my coworkers are nice and I guess that goes a long way and my wife and I have a roof over our heads and that’s great but anyway this commute still sucks except for right lane savior right lane savior when I walk into the front door at the end of the day feeling motivated to play guitar then I sit down for like a second to rest my feet then I’m done my motivation’s gone well maybe tomorrow well maybe tomorrow will this make it on the record? what does the record even mean anymore? fuck I miss my friends in the desert and being present when their songs were born
2.
Distance 04:03
how many times can I say “I miss you” before it starts to feel a bit obtuse and mispronounced? you know I love you but it’s late and I’ve had a really long day can it wait ‘til tomorrow? is that ok? I heard your name when I was young and I still hear it in the same tone if I’m not careful they tried to own you like a dog or a loan like they’d figured you out but it’s not that easy you won’t fit in the frame when the truth is harder than a lie will I deny it? when the truth is harder than a lie I won’t stop fighting
3.
Bluff 03:57
life’s too short to pander but still I eulogize I still tried to win you after I apologized after I apologized call it a bluff call it anything you want but I know the truth call it mean call it anything I know the truth you’re too close to question so you can’t empathize the room I found my voice in now I barely recognize while the town you built got crowded misguided and energized misguided and energized now I see that you and I both needed more than we could give back then now I see that we both needed the same thing more than we could give back then pain in my chest I gave all that I had to give pain in your chest you gave all that you had to give pain in my chest I gave all that I had to give call it a bluff call it anything you want but I know the truth call it mean call it anything but I know the truth I know the truth
4.
Olive 05:03
sweating blood on the leaves while you wait hear you the real you with a power that can’t be named one ear then disappears with the blood running down his neck one ear then reappears fear you the real you with a power that can’t be named reveal you the real you with a power that can’t be named
5.
Limits 03:26
excuse me while I disengage I wanna die for you but it’s not my place mmm you can’t hold everything all of the time so excuse me I’m so tired of feeling it 110 to 0 percent then you take my blinders off for a bit to show me all I’m accomplishing well it’s hard to believe it and even harder to remember it that it’s not a fault if you find that you have limits and choose not to spread thin it’s not your fault if they expect too much and you let them down just let go
6.
Feelings 06:35
just because you don’t choose them doesn’t mean you’re the bad kind just because there’s no future you don’t have to forget first the shame then the guilt came with the lies close behind but the truth you must cling to is the world record time you held your breath just because you feel joy now doesn’t mean you’re the bad kind just because you’re not blameless there’s no penance you owe you tried putting a bandaid on a black & blue arm but admitting the falsehood is the way to reset to heal to cope feel what you must open to hear it don’t skip to the last page open don’t fear it to heal it

released January 22, 2021

All songs written by Eric Reed.
Austin Norman played drums on every song. Chad Jaso played bass on every song and added ethereal sounds to RLS & Olive. Amber Reed played violin & piano on RLS & Limits, played piano on Distance, & sang on RLS & Feelings. In addition to the beautiful musical parts she contributed, Amber was my biggest ally throughout the process of making this album. Conor Davison added synth, percussion, and production ideas to RLS, Distance, Olive, & Limits. 1 year into recording I was feeling exhausted and discouraged. Conor’s contribution really changed the way I heard the songs at a time when I really needed it. Reagan Smith played banjo on RLS. Tyler Jordan sang on Bluff. Jon Zmikly played trumpet on RLS, Bluff, & Olive. Joey Chance played trombone RLS, Bluff, & Olive. Aaron Zachary recorded most of the drums, bass, and rhythm guitars, as well as some vocals. He also added key parts to RLS & Olive I think. Zachary Dyke mixed all these songs. Paul Vroom mastered them. Robyn Redish (@stolenpainting) created the album art collage. Beth Doughtie helped Eric with album artwork.
